Ami Colé is practically a love letter to brown skin; from promotional imagery to the products themselves, it’s clear the brand prioritizes catering to dark skin. Each product celebrates the range of our complexions with flexible shades that pair to varying undertones, meaning there is no one-brown-fits-all approach here. And the market is singing in response – Ami Colé has been the talk of the industry since its launch in 2021. The fact that it’s now being sold at Sephora – one of the largest international personal care retailers – is a testament to its quality, how well the founding team understands their market, and how hungry the community has been for this type of beauty offering.
I love this line, not only because it represents a quality black product launch, but because its ethos is to let skin be the main character. Skin-Enhancing Tint – $32, 1 FL OZ
This breathable formula melts into skin like a silky moisturizer, and gives a little extra glow along with a blur-effect tint. It also includes nourishing ingredients like baobab seed extract which is anti-inflammatory, hibiscus extract which has anti-aging and gentle exfoliation properties, and pumpkin seed extract for anti-aging and hydration.
Skin-Enhancing Concealer – $24, .20 FL OZ
This buttery formula remains breathable with incredible coverage that blends in for a natural, perfecting finish. It also contains the same key skin-loving ingredients as the tint – baobab seed extract, hibiscus extract, and pumpkin seed extract – for a hydrating, anti-inflammatory boost.
Lip Oil Treatment – $20, .15 FL OZ
This gloss gives incredible shine, wears comfortably on the lips, and offers long-lasting moisture – just like a lip treatment. Once again, baobab seed shines as a moisturizing star in the formulation, camellia oil hydrates and moisturizes, and passionfruit seed oil gives antioxidant protection. I love their signature rose-brown hue for an everyday, no fuss look.
Last Amplifying Mascara – $19, .30 fl oz
I’m enamored with the inky black mascara, which only comes in Rich Black. The wand coats lashes beautifully – I’d say by the third coat you may be at risk of clumping, but you likely won’t need that many – and it does not flake! Totally worth the awards received to date: Allure Best of Beauty, Glamour Beauty Award, Bustle Beauty Award, etc. The mascara is made with 87% naturally derived ingredients, including Shea Butter and Jojoba oil derivatives to help soften and condition.
